WERN has no paid staff at all. Everything that happens at the warehouse happens because someone volunteered to do it.

What volunteers do
- Warehouse
- Sorting, cleaning, moving and preparing goods for families collecting them.
- Truck crew
- Collecting donations from homes across the nine council areas, Tuesday to Thursday.
- Electrical testing
- Qualified testers check and tag whitegoods and electrical items before they go out.
- Client support
- Walking case managers and their clients through the warehouse on selection appointments.
- Office and administration
- Answering calls, booking appointments and keeping the schedule straight.
What it involves
Most volunteers come in one day a week. The warehouse is open 10am to 2pm Tuesday to Friday. There is a job for most levels of fitness and confidence, and it is not all heavy lifting.
Closed-toe shoes are required in the warehouse, and we provide safety vests.
